A self-admitted narcissist has spoken out about the nine phrases he often used to manipulate others in his life.
Steven Ingram (@the_bat_wolf) took to TikTok to discuss what life is like for him as a narcissist who also has borderline personality disorder (BPD).
According to the NHS, BPD is one of the most well-known personality disorders, mainly impacting a person’s mood and the way they relate to others.
The primary symptoms of BPD include intense emotional instability, a distorted way of thinking and perceiving things, impulsive behavior, and challenges in maintaining stable relationships with people.
These symptoms can vary significantly, with some people experiencing mild effects while others face much more severe challenges.
Last year, Steven released a video outlining ‘nine common phrases narcissists use to avoid taking responsibility for their actions’.
“If you’ve ever dated a narcissist, I guarantee you, you’ve heard every one of the phrases I’m about to share with you,” he began.
“Narcissists will use these phrases to convince you that you are the problem and not them who really are the problem.”
Phrase #1
‘You sure do like to argue, don’t you? Why are you always starting these conflicts with me? Why?’
“Narcissists will use this one anytime you bring up anything they did to hurt you,” Steven explained.
Phrase #2
‘Why are you always overreacting? Why do you have to wear your heart on your sleeve?’
Phrase #3
‘This conversation is over, I’m leaving’.
Phrase #4
‘Yeah, I guess I’m just a piece of st?’
Phrase #5
‘You know what, believe whatever you want because that’s what you’re going to do anyway’.
Phrase #6
‘Why are you so sensitive?’

At the end of the video, Steven reflected on his behavior and added: “Now, as a self-aware narcissist, I’ve used every single one of these phrases. And I can guarantee you, all of the toxic partners I’ve ever had in my life, and it’s been a lot, have used these exact same phrases.”
After watching his video, one viewer shared a memory of their own experience with a narcissistic partner, stating: “I would make a point and he would expect to cite the actual calendar date when that happened.”
Another viewer shared: “He always said I loved to argue. I was never ever trying to argue.”
